Happy National Manufacturing Day! At EPIC, we are proud to partner with clients that contribute so much to America’s success. We think manufacturers are key to America’s success, and we have collected some impressive facts about U.S. Manufacturing you may not know to celebrate this unique holiday.

Impressive U.S. Manufacturing Facts for 2017

  1. If U.S. Manufacturing was its own country, it would have the world’s 3rd largest economy. (SOURCE)
  2.  The U.S. Manufacturing Sector is still the largest manufacturing sector in the world, producing 18.2% of the world’s goods, beating out China which produces 17.6%. (SOURCE)
  3. America’s manufacturing output is higher than the entire national economic output of Canada, South Korea, and Mexico. (SOURCE)
  4. For every $1 spent on manufacturing, another $1.81 is added to the economy. (SOURCE)
  5. Nine percent of the American workforce works in manufacturing, approximately 12.9 million people. (SOURCE)
  6. Over the past 25 years, U.S. manufactured goods have quadrupled. (SOURCE)
  7. The 3 largest U.S. manufacturing categories in order from largest down are: Food, Beverage, and Tabacco Products ($817 Billion), Chemical Products ($752 Million), and Motor Vehicles and Parts ($670 Billion). (SOURCE)
  8. Employment in the manufacturing sector has been rising since December 2016, with 36,000 more people employed in U.S. manufacturing in August 2017, than in the month before. (SOURCE)
  9. Real manufacturing output and output per employee have been rising  since 1990, with the exception of the 2007-2008 recession, which has since rebounded back to an upward trajectory.  (SOURCE)
  10. The manufacturing industry is a leading backer of STEM education in the U.S., where students are encouraged to focus in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. (SOURCE)

Join us in celebrating another year of ingenuity and innovation on National Manufacturing Day!

National Manufacturing Day is celebrated annually on the first Friday in October. It was introduced in 2012 to help bring awareness of the U.S. manufacturing industry to future generations of innovative manufacturers, lawmakers, business owners and consumers, alike. Since 2012, as a result of promoting awareness about the industry, the perception of manufacturing has substantially improved, with 64% more public interest in pursuing manufacturing careers. Go Manufacturing Day!
